The Ethiopian Orthodox Church patriarch Abune Mathia’s statement condemning Tigray Genocide does NOT represent the holy synod, said the Church’s representative Abune Yosief.

EBC Zena, 10 May 2021

This statement from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church did not come as a surprise to many acute observers of the church which not only blessed the Ethio-Eritrean genocidal campaign in Tigray but also kept silent as the rest of the word, including international religious institutions, were condemning the heinous atrocities committed by the joint forces in Tigray.
